David Pastrnak Isn’t Going Anywhere

The saga that is the ongoing contract talks between the Boston Bruins and winger David Pastrnak might be taking a dramatic turn for the worst.
Brian Lawton — a longtime NHL player and current NHL Network analyst that also served as GM of the Tampa Lightning — dropped a bombshell tweet Monday evening, stating that he ‘would not be surprised’ if the Bruins decided to trade Pastrnak. (Via Masslive.com)

It was reported earlier this week that the Bruins could potentially be shopping David Pastrnak by Brian Lawton of the NHL Network. Lawton stated that he ‘would not be surprised’ if the Bruins decided to part ways with Pastrnak due to his current contract situation.

First and foremost, let me just say that David Pastrnak isn’t going anywhere. Don Sweeney would be out of his god damn mind if he let the Bruins part ways with yet another young all star. Now, I’m not saying Lawton’s report is B.S. because I highly doubt it is. Brian Lawton is a former NHL GM and is very well connected, so someone had to give him this info, but again, Pastrnak isn’t going anywhere.

Personally, I believe both sides are fed up. Training camp is right around the corner and clearly Pastrnak remains unsigned and while #88 is a RFA, the ball is in his court.

We can sit here and talk about Charlie McAvoy, Brandon Carlo, Anders Bjork or any of the other young prospects who have been deemed the future of the team, but in all reality, David Pastrnak is the future of the Bruins.

Pastrnak, who celebrated a birthday this summer that finally allows him to drink alcohol on American soil, is coming off a career year in which he saw career highs in goals (34) and total points (70) over 75 games – ranking 10th in the NHL in scoring. Why would the Bruins part with arguably their best scorer and a 21-year-old who has yet to reach his prime?

Don’t you dare mention Tyler Seguin, Joe Thornton, Blake Wheeler, Phil Kessel, Dougie Hamilton, or any of the other young stars the Bruins have traded in the past. And I tell you not to mentioned these names because if the morons over at 100 Legends Way haven’t realized it isn’t a good idea to trade your best young player then we are all fucked.

Feitelberg wrote a great blog titled “If the Bruins Trade David Pastrnak I Will Burn TD Garden To The Ground” and he should. Everyone should. If Don Sweeney trades David Pastrnak (which he won’t) I full expect a riot outside the Garden. I will be front and center wearing a Montreal Canadiens sweater with Blue and Red war paint across my face.

Don Sweeney has already made it a point to shoot down the rumors, telling the Globe the rumors are false in an email on Monday night.

So I’ll double down, If the Bruins trade David Pastrnak I am officially a die-hard Montreal Canadiens fan.

So until then….we wait.
